LA CASA DEL MANGO
Hotel La Casa del Mango is located on the Black Beach in Cahuita, on Costa Rica's Caribbean Coast. The house was carefully designed so that vistors could enjoy views over the Caribbean Sea and that the ocean breezes would flow through the screened panels. Solar panels supply enough power to heat all the building's needs and without need for air-conditioning, this home has been contructed to be environmentally-friendly. Cahuita is about four hours from San José, and the first of the beaches on the south Caribbean Coast with Puerto Viejo just twenty minutes away and the beautiful beaches of Cocles, Punta Uva and Manzanillo all within an hour of Cahuita. Within walking distance of La Casa del Mango, are beaches with volcanic black sand and white sand, leading into clear ocean waters with coral reef. Cahuita's small town center offers international and local cuisine with a number of restaurants to suit every taste and budget, small stores sell everything from snacks to souvenirs, and there are bars for evenings out to enjoy a cocktail or cold beer while listening to live reggae bands and to dance Salsa! The laid-back fishing village of Cahuita was first populated by Jamaican and other West Indian migrants, and with the indigenous communities that lived higher into the mountains. There's a real mix of cultures today with European languages as common as the local patios and Bri Bri. Cahuita is popular for its amazing National Park where visitors can snorkel around the coral reefs, hike through jungle, and enjoy white sand beaches shaded by almond trees. The wildlife includes monkeys, sloths, raccoons, caiman and many other flora and fauna. |
